Our Procedures
Gordon & Weiss Vision Institute offers an extensive variety of surgical options for correcting vision problems. By utilizing the latest in world class technologies, our surgeons are capable of fully customizing your treatment plan for optimal results.
Procedures include:
Custom LASIK with Intralase: dramatically improves vision for patients with mild to moderate nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Provides improved vision and little down-time before returning to most daily activities.
PRK: An excellent alternative for patients with thinner corneas or who might not be a candidate for LASIK. Treatment is performed on the surface of the cornea as opposed to under a flap created for LASIK.
PML: A LASIK treatment for patients with Presbyopia with or without nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. By modifying the shape of the cornea, this procedure affords good distance vision in both eyes, while reducing or eliminating the need for reading glasses.
LASIK or PRK Monovision: laser vision correction procedure for patients with Presbyopia (the inability to focus from distance to near). The dominant eye is fully corrected for distance vision and the non-dominant eye is slightly under-corrected, with the combination allowing for functional near vision. Using both eyes together, the brain blends the images to allow close as well as distance vision.
Conductive Keratoplasty (CK): a procedure using radio frequency to steepen the curve in the center of the eye, ‘firming” the surface of the eye for improved close-up vision. This procedure is considered temporary and may need to be repeated in 2-3 years for continued benefit.
Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL): for patients with high degrees of nearsightedness who may not be a candidate for LASIK or PRK. A lens similar to a contact lens is implanted in the eye to change the focusing power, for improved vision.
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE): for patients ages 40+ without a cataract. This procedure removes the natural lens in the eye and replaces it with an implantable lens to change the focusing power. It is very similar to a cataract procedure and is available in different lens designs to correct, nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and near vision.
Cataract Surgery: This surgery removes a “cloudy” natural lens in the eye and replaces it with an implantable lens. It is the most common surgical procedure performed in the United States today. There are many lens options to choose from and Medicare has made it possible to select a standard lens (covered under insurance benefits) or to opt for a deluxe lens that is partially covered under patient benefits. Deluxe lenses include accommodative and multi-focal designs to reduce or eliminate the need for reading glasses following surgery.
